Here is some my work published for the week of the 1st September 2008.
A week of protest against coles supermarket being built in Tecoma, Yarra Valley and Ferntree Gully, Ringwood district League Cricket, and Division Two State Baseball. As usual a busy weekend, but a quiet Saturday night.
I recently ordered from ebay a CP-E4 clone. The delivery took about two weeks. The packaging for the product, was literally a knock off the Canon CP-E4 packaging. Upon inspection of the SF-17 (what I will call it now), the unit only could house six double a batteries compared to the Canon CP-E4, which houses eight batteries. Where in the CP-E4 the batterie compartment is removable, the SF-17 is not. There is a small door on the left hand side that opens, that allows the six batteries to be inserted. The other gripe with the SF-17 is the exenstion cable that connects to the 580ex is four time shorter than the CP-E4, this does not give much ley way for where you can house the SF-17 upon yourself.

A week of Horse Racing, Yarra Valley and Ferntree Gully League Cricket, NBL and WNBL Basketball and State Baseball. As usual a busy weekend. Weekend was with the once a year Yarra Glen Minster Ellison Cup.
On the 12th October 2008, we had our second Melbourne strobist meet. It was a fun filled day with about 20 photographers, three models and two makeup artists. We ended in three to four groups practicing, bouncing ideas from each other. The meeting was conducted in a warehouse I had access too.
As you can see from the photo, I met some great people, and made a few friends that day.
The after party meetup is this Thursday somewhere in the city. Hopefully we will discuss how we went, what we learnt. Also start planning for Strobist meeting three.
Also like to thank Clement for the image he done of our group with the fisheye.
On the 12th August 2008. I was awarded the Seabl South Mens conference best action photograph. This was the first full year that I have done basketball photography for the Seabl season.
Winning the award was a acculmunation of two years of photographing basketball.
I started originally photographing my nephew playing basketball, then Big V and Seabl. Then in the off season photographing NBL.
When it came back to the Seabl season, I the lessons I learnt from the nbl season, gave me a great insight, and advantage on how to photograph. e.g. angles, position to place myself etc.
One of the difference that took me a few weeks to wake up to was that larger stadiums have great lighting, where else smaller regional/local stadiums do not. It became apparent to create a great image, I would have to ramp up my iso settings, or use flash fill into the image. I choose the later, why? This was due to the camera I was using. The 1d mark one, is a good sports camera, but once over iso 800, the amount of grain thats in the image makes it literally worthless to print in a newspaper. Remember a newspaper only prints at 72dpi, on some sort of recycled paper. Also note that this is not bright daylight, but a dark, and dingy sports stadium.
I will continue about howto photograph basketball in another article.
